Inner Dwellings
Today's post, well isn't my post. I came across this well written message on the r/INFJ sub on Reddit and he summed up how I feel all the time. I'm quite pissed at myself now and they say, don't write angry. Heck, don't do anything angry. So before I continue to embarrass myself, here's the message. Written by u/BlueEyeMonarch and here's the post
"Author's note: this was originally going to be a response to /u/vapesmith1 [1] 's post, but as I started writing I found myself thinking about the commonalities INFJs share in their darker moments in life, and how I feel they are interconnected.
It seems to me that our desire for deep inner purpose, more than other groups of people, leaves us disenchanted with reality in ways that others cannot understand. While the mundane rigors of the weekly grind keep others entertained or pacified, we sit on the sidelines confused, because the shallow pleasures others enjoy cannot fulfill the yearnings of our hearts for something more.
This void ultimately leaves us suffering - we don't know where to go with our lives, how to be happy, and how to move forward in a complicated world that seems as though it wasn't made for us, as though we are aliens in a familiar land. One would then ask the question, what do we do? Where can we gain strength from when we feel powerlessness to the struggles we face?
You must take on the heroes journey of following your heart. The most powerful tool we will ever have is the fire in our heart; this is the guiding star we were given to navigate with. Although we are quiet, deep down we have passions and emotions that are some of the loudest of all. We lock out complex feelings away and hide away in our times of suffering. Listen and open your heart and unlock all the things you put away. It's okay to have a life you dont like right now. Flowers cannot grow without getting rained on, and neither can we. Suffering is the most sobering and most important feeling of them all. Stop running away and experience the flood of emotion that got put away.
When you can finally be honest, envision who you want to be, the life you should be living, the friends you want to have, the spouse you want to meet. What values would you die for? What dreams would you die for? Your visions are the marrow of your being. The key to our fulfillment is to actually feel in our hearts the power that these dreams provide. Listen to Martin Luther King, Jr. And hear the passion and power radiate from him as he speaks. You must empower yourself the exact same way with your own dream.
When you can do this properly and consistently you will gain strength and courage. From here, you must stand and fight. Instead of being an idle dreamer work hard for the life you really want to live. Charge into the face of your conflicts with your heart as the sword and shield. Work towards the purposes your heart has given you and you will never feel lost. Your strength and courage will radiate out from you and it will attract others into your life. Other problems in your life will solve themselves should you follow the guiding star."
